I finally got to read it! Sorry it took me so long, but it was worth the wait, for me at least! ^^ I can't wait for the next chapter! I'm glad you're taking your time with their relationship in this one...I think that's a large part of its charm. And I'd forgotten about the doctor. I had to go back and read chapter 4 again to get back into the story (I have such a pathetically short attention span!) but it didn't mention the doctor, and until someone else reminded me of him, I'd forgotten about him. I'm sure he'll have a say in this. That's good! I don't like it when things are too easy! ^^ Great job Sweetie...I'm really looking forward to the next chapter. Now I'm off to catch up on GFE...
Author's Response: True, this is a very old-fashioned kind of romance because they're not worldly. They're very young and misinformed on quite a few things and they're kinda feeling their way around. But this is also a short fiction, so there won't be a gang of detail or dragging. I have a set amount of chapters that I want, and if I'm lucky, I won't get enormous block again like I did last time. >.<

Inuyasha is so cute; i love the innocence he has yet the sense of his knowledge is mature - 'mate' part - u gotta love him!! <3
(skipping morning school =p) yesh, am dying from school stuff - its overwelming! -_-
When i was reading this chappy - if i was kags, apart from knowing inu's thought, i might have thought him loco o.o ... lol, idk y... but the way he does things is cute, i must admit but showing such affections on their first meeting would get me freaked out - n him knowing her unknowlingy to her - i'd say stalker!! xDD lol ... but she's innocent too - the circumstances r different and i kno inu's thought (am that magically!! lol) ... so i find it really really wonderful with their interraction - it jus sends that small smile spilling across my lips ^^
Hope to see an update when eva! It sucks having to read these so late - but that's school for u -___- Been having to wake up as early as 2am to balance out studying and doing home work cuz that's all i've been able to do - like everything i do will always relate to school in some way... its jus too much to fill in normal hrs (so many smached alarm clocks! lmao xDD)

This is one wicked chapter, Goddess!! Seriously wicked!! I Loves it!! I was smiling happily when I read the title! I can't wait for it!
I was cringing big time when I read the word bear! I know from my studies and research that female bears are right next to female moose about their offspring - the reason being they are K-Strategists (translates to basically a mammal that pours valuable resources and time/energy into raising the offspring to be successful - similar to humans- both raise their young for more than a season but for years at times to three) .. and I know of the violent nature of bears.... The way a male can and will kill a female and her offspring just for the meat when normally the male just kills the offspring to induce estrus in the female... So Kagome has just put herself into a death trap just by stopping near the cub.
Then I started sweating and panicking for Kagome when she started putting her scent onto the cub... That could lead to two different paths.. one Kagome is mauled beyond recognition or two.. the cub is abandoned from the new scent. I can see though Kagome is heading for the Mauled to Death path skipping merrily!
Dang that is soooo the truth!! Dead on truth!!
Humans see a baby animal by itself and instantly think it's been 'abandoned' or 'lost'. The mother is usually close by within earshot/scenting range. A big cause for attacks. Like with fawns... the mother can leave the fawn for days on end while she grazes about (and creates milk) before returning to the fawn again.
Of course.... what human isn't a melting sucker for those eyes!! and that face!!
Hot Darn!!!!! Am I ever getting into this story!! This is right up my alley with regards to Nature!! *swoons happily* I'm here growling at the screen warning Kagome to leave the cub alone! To back away slowly- very slowly and make noise to alert the mother to her presence when safe enough away from cub. However I can see the difference between the biology books of today and the books of waaaay back! And I'm thrilling to it!
OH WOW!! That is another truth that humans would think about 'lost' baby wildlife!! Kudos!! Goddess, Kudos!!!! That is was another human's fault for the lost animal.
I so love the way you wrote Kagome's character here!! I am frustrated with her, fearing for her and pleased by her compassion!! Whoot!
The next part! I love the way his base/primal instincts are so tempered by his nature and upbringing. These two will make for one very powerful and sucessful mate! I love the way like all shy people he starts to lose his courage in speaking/meeting his object of his affections!
Each uniquely written and crafted, lovingly moulded and shaped InuYasha that you pen hold such a place in me! And this Wild Man InuYasha is no different!
I wanted to cry and comfort InuYasha when his past experiences with humans and their reactions to his looks created that gut turning fear! But we know that Kagome will see past that (after the initial shock wears off) and she'll complete him like he completes her! She is more of a Nature's Child than she is of Society!
I love his honest reactions to his emotions and the interaction of his wolf brother to his emotions. That was such a heart breaking section when he was coming to the decision to give up because he had mistaken her actions and his self loathing for his appearance!
But his memory of Mr Peepers!! That was soo dang adorable!! Reminds me of the time I was at my Grandmother's house and she asked what I was doing.. I replied playing with my babies.. she then mentioned she wanted to see them (Believing that like all little girls I would bring her dolls) I beamed happily at her and 'plop' right on the table - dropped a handful of earthworms. I think she and Mom had the same reaction as Mama Inu! and I think that was the same 'talk' I got as well!
You can't imagine the very happy smile I have on my face right now.
*sighs* I was a strange child even back then! More fascinated by Nature than tea parties and dolls! So I very humbly thank you for providing me this double pleasure!
So now that I'm happily crying I give it Ten Thumbs WAAAAYY UP!
I do love his honest philosophy.. if you love something let it go... if it comes back to you.. then it was meant to be. *Pauses* That is Three times InuYasha did that!! Freaky!!!! *minor spazz attack* Three times in the manga that Kagome was sent away only to return to InuYasha each time!
I loved how Kagome wanted to bring the cub back before it was too dark (and the cub imprint on her more than it has) "Bhuddha belly" That is priceless!! I love it! I love the way Kagome acknowledges the dangers of the forest... even if it is because it's getting darker...
That is also very true.. Nature always sounds scarier when not in your 'comfort' or your shelter.
OH! That line Kagome said!! It sums it all up!
I love the way you got the angst going in InuYasha!! It's all so awful for him.. being so isolated for so very long without contact beyond his brother! Without that wolf.. Inu probably would have gone insane or died... from a broken will and broken heart.
It is amazing and exquisite how InuYasha though deep within his suffering is reacting instinctively to the Forest and to its every nuances! I am so loving this story!!
The action sequence!! It's so incredibly vivid!! So very realistic!! You have me on the edge of my seat! Did you read or come across or heard any 'man-eater' stories or bear attacks? This so so flooring in how incredibly real this is done!!
I am confused though? How did InuYasha know that the 'distrubance in the force' was outside his territory? Isn't he still near his porch? or his home? and another.... was it InuYasha or the wolf that 'marked' the territory? And did InuYasha do his marking like the great cats and bears? By stretching up and clawing trees? or did he use his canine traits?
Oh yes!! On the edge of the seat Big Time!! I loves!! So LOVE the action sequence!! Again!! I am so very happily astounded by the accuracies of this chapter with regards to Man vs Nature theme!! Bravo!!
Oh yes.. I am nearly falling off my chair from the action!! (and getting yelled at for moving around so much!) They finally met! under the most intense of situations!! WOWWOWWOW!! I love how InuYasha's drive in driving the bear away from her victim into protecting Kagome his female from death! Oh gods!! I am seeing this all like a movie!!
Bears running over obstacles are just as fast as on straight ground. Gods! My heart is racing!! I love that Kagome has instinctively started to go into the pose that can protect her vital areas. Wicked!! The fight between InuYasha and the Sow was freaking awesome beyond Amazing!! I loved how he scooped her up and took off.... I could see a Tarzan-ish/Jane-ish interaction!
My heart was breaking for InuYasha when Kagome freaked out the way she did and him not understanding it was becuase he was different but for the fact he suddenly scooped her up and dashed away with her!
Sweet that Kagome's compassion kicked in when it did! I think she'll take great care of him!!
I adored the ending!
I can't wait for the next chapter Goddess!! Please keep up the Most excellent and Masterful work!!

For the bear scene, I did a little research just to make sure I was getting most of it right. It wasn't a huge scene, but pivotal since it was created to bring them together. So, yeah, I did a bit of homework.
InuYasha was close to house, which is pretty deep into the forest. It was his sense of things being "off" that led him to explore. Once he left the immediate area of his home, he was able to pick up the scent of the bear. :D he does have a strong sense of smell, doesn't he? :P
As far as kagome, I wanted her to be realistic. I hate reading about how she immediately rushed tp rub his ears, etc. That, to me, isn't that realistic -even if it WAS in the manga. If I saw a guy with ears like a dog, I'd be freaked out. So I wanted her to have a real reaction to what would be deemed a deformity.Of course, once you see how sweet and harmless he is, you can't help but want to rub them -which she will do eventually.
I'm hoping to dig into the next chapter of this soon, but for now, I'm happy with the progress. <33

Oh, Kiki! You don't know how long I've been waiting for this chapter. Beautifully written, it goes straight to the heart. The way that Inuyasha's courting her, yet the way she's just that innocent that she doesn't understand speaks volumes in itself. They both have gone through such hard times, they both deserve to be happy.

I'm SO sorry for the wait involved with this one. It won't happen again. I was just blocked so badly... but not anymore. I have my direction again, and as soon as I update a few others, this one will get another hit. It's a fairly short story, so I hope it won't take that long. I also want to wrap up Ever After and be done with it. xD

really sweet. yet, so different for you. i love how inuyasha and kags have both had difficult, sometimes lonely childhoods. it helps for them to have something in common, even if it is something sad. they go together so well. i look forward to more.

To answer you last review reply: I'm doing great. Busy as heck, but that's university for ya! I had an amazing time on Halloween; I dressed up as a snowflake and went to a party. And tried Mohito for the first time...which is way stronger than any alcohol that I've ever had before. Delicious though! Remind me to pm you pictures when I visit the HOA on Thursday afternoon...I have a midterm on Wed afternoon and two on Thursday morning, so I should get back to hitting the books.

Now, the fic. His speech is hard to remember, lol. A few times he spoke a bit too correctly and I had to go back and rewrite it. He will speak normally at some point, but I wanted to hammer it home that he hasn't used speech in about a decade, and even when he did, it was the speech of an 8 year old. The doctor, he means well. he wants to sort of, adopt her and give her a home. But as you can see, a certain someone already started doing that, lol. It should prove interesting. Beautiful and sweet. I know you usually write the harsher stuff....but don't sell yourself short on the fluff. Trust me, you're VERY good at that, too. Your characterization of Inuyasha is terrific (as always). However, your characterization of Kagome is wonderful, too. Both of these characters are so fully developed and have shown so much growth (especially Kagome; she was a bit of an ungrateful brat last chapter until the end, as I recall). I can't wait to see where else you take this. Fandom is running short on GOOD stories now, so, believe me, your updates are TREATS.
Author's Response: Thanks so much, girl. Really. Fluff KILLS me as you know, but I'll be honest and say that this chapter was not as hard to write this time around. I was blocked FOREVER, but it seems to have lifted and I'll be able to continue the way I wanted to. In fact, right now, I'm getting a lot of writing done, so I'm feeling pretty darned good! :D
I haven't been able to do much reading outside of drabbles, but I know what you mean. I hear all the time from my friends that there's "nothing to read out there". I think it's because the manga ended. People are kinda blah about it, but this should be the time when they stop holding bak and write whatever they want without the constraints of canon (Though, I don't know of any other way to do it!). Thanks for a great review -they always make me squee. ^_^
