EDIT: BETA FOUND!
I’ve found a beta. Yay! \o/
Okay, so let’s make this simple and clean. I need a beta, and the requirements, again, are simple and clean.
-You must be a regular reviewer at Absolution. In other words, I need to know who you are. So, if you respond to this, do so with the penname you use at my site.
-You must be really timely with returns when I submit a chapter to you. I’m impatient that way. If I send it to you in the middle of the night/morning, I need it back later in the same day. If I send it late night, I need it back the next morning. Impossible? Not really, and I’ll tell you why in a sec.
-Don’t correct my writing style or give me advice on how/what to write. In other words, don’t attempt to tailor what I’m doing into what YOU wish to see. That’s not what I need you for and it will only annoy me. Then, shortly after, I’ll politely let you know that your services won’t be needed.
-Don’t show my work to anyone. Don’t post my work anywhere. Don’t do anything with my shit that you know I won’t appreciate. I’ll ‘fire’ you then ban you from my site post haste. My work, my copyright. The End.
-I don’t want your grammar help. I have a certain style to the way I write (that includes sentence structure, fragments -all that). What I want from you is… your voice.
(OMG, kidding! LOL. Inu cupcakes if you can tell me what that line is from!)
But seriously, this is what I need my beta to do:
I have a terrible habit of skipping words (i.e. “What [missing word goes here] did was wrong.”, and occasionally, using the wrong word (i.e. who’s and whose).
So, all I need you to do is read the chapter and fill in the missing words (if there are any) or correct usage on a word that’s obviously mixed up.
THAT IS ALL. TOUCH NOTHING ELSE.
This is a very easy peasy thing to do, but when you spend hours writing something, you become too close to it. Your mind is filling in the missing word -even if your eyes are not actually seeing the word- and the task is made more difficult when you have a trillion fics to update.
So, if RL isn’t being a monster to you and you feel like seeing my chapters in advance, use the link at Absolution to mail me. And if you follow my stuff, you know I don’t update every second. You won’t be bombarded. In fact, you’d only be called when I really feel like I need a second set of eyes.
Allrighty then…
