Beyond Redemption – The Concert Was… Okay.

The Concert Was… Okay.

I love Coheed & Cambria. For a long time, they were my favorite group ever (U-KISS has thus knocked them from that top spot, but they’re a very close second), however, I wasn’t that happy with this concert for several reasons.

1. VIP extras were disorganized.

We were told to get there by 5:30 for early admission. Some got there even before that. It was freezing, absolutely freezing to the point of snowing, and guess what? No early admission. We were told it was changed to 6pm via facebook at a time we were all out in the fucking street trying to get there. So, needless to say, we froze our fucking asses off, and as a result, I have a cold now. Angry

Then, VIPs were supposed to get an autographed set list as an extra. That’s well and good, but by the time we finally got in, they were all out. Instead, there was a guy giving out some sort of sticker thing, telling people to come back in an hour to get one ’cause the band was signing more. Just.. ugh. And the best part is that VIPs used to be able to take someone with them. Now, you have to pay $15 extra or a pass for a guest. Being “nickeled and dimed” isn’t the issue, really. The issue is that they never even asked to see the fucking pass because there was no true VIP admission, so I wasted money on that for nothing. >.>

2. The opening bands were terrible.

I forget the name of the first band, but all their songs were sans vocals, and overall, they weren’t the worst. That title belongs to the second one, “Between the Buried and Me” (I think that was their name). They were fucking awful. I mean some real headache-inducing, loud, crap with no flow, rhythm or sense. I felt like someone was slamming my forehead with a hammer. Just… junk. Real junk. What?!

3. The set list was less than awesome.

As expected, Coheed’s set list was heavily taken from the new Afterman double CD. I can understand that, but this is Radio City Music Hall, not Terminal 5. At least pull out all of the heavy hitters, the classics, and take the roof off that fucking place! Sigh.

There were a few golden ones, like No World for Tomorrow, In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Earth: 3, and the ever-present, Welcome Home… But what about Delirium Trigger, Devil in New Jersey, or Everything Evil? And wtf, all they played from “Year of the Black Rainbow” was Juggernaut? Really? UNGH. So disappointing… Doubt it!

I dunno, but I just didn’t enjoy myself like I usually do. The venue was cold, the seats were deceptively crappy, and while it was nice to see a small band like Coheed make history for themselves, I just wish it had been more fun. This is the very first time that I didn’t buy any merch at a show; that’s how much I just wanted to leave. *sigh*

…And fuck yeah, I got my signed set list.

(Btw, they didn’t sing “Wake Up”)

In other news, it’s back to writing and such.
