ABSOLUTION: THE SWEEP HAS BEGUN

Thursday, 31 January, 2013

So, here’s the heads up. Before my next round of updates, I’ll be sweeping my memberlist. In fact, I’m almost done. A lot of people lost access tonight. For the curious ones, there will be one of three things you’ll discover on your next visit:

1. Normal Login: Your account is fine.
2. Locked Account: Your account is locked with the possibility of getting it back.
3. Username Missing: You’re deleted. There is no coming back.

I wasn’t kidding about reviewing and staying active. The size of my audience doesn’t matter to me, unlike so many others who will post all over the planet for hit counts. I don’t give a shit about that.

I’d rather write for 20 people who will leave a positive review, thus proving that not only do they enjoy the work, but the stress on my hands is well worth the pain and effort, as opposed to letting a bunch of ghosts have access who will review every blue moon, or in some bold cases, not at all, while still being able to come into my site whenever they want.

Naw, there won’t be any of that. lol.

Now that I’m getting my writing mood back (little by little, mind you), I want to post for people who have steadily shown my work love -and not just the ones who show up when I update something like The Neighbor. Nope, those people will most likely never see another chapter of that fic again. So, if you retain your account in the next 24 hours, good for you. You’ve reviewed within an acceptable time frame. If not, oh well. Shit happens. You were warned from the start.

Happy Thursday! I’ll definitely try to update over the weekend. 0.~

Absolution

Friday, 10 June, 2011

Since I see that people have been coming to this blog, undoubtedly to see if I will explain why the site is closed, well, it’s simple. I’ve decided that if you guys can’t review, I can’t write for you.

I have carpal tunnel, as you all probably know. If you don’t have it, then you don’t understand the unbearable pain that comes from typing too much. The fact that I use my hands a lot for my RL work only exacerbates the problem. So, if I can spend hours writing an 6-8,000 word chapter, I fail to see why my readers can’t take a minute to say they enjoyed the work -if they did indeed enjoy it. If they didn’t, why come to my website to read the updates at all? If it’s boredom, I’ve cured that by closing Absolution, and thus, giving them a nudge toward healthier choices for their time. :) Besides, there’s an up side. Plagiarists don’t have access. Yay.

Writing isn’t that fun anymore and it doesn’t come easy between the block and carpal. If I’m putting in the effort to at least finish the stuff you’ve been reading, I don’t think it’s a lot to ask that the readers reciprocate. And if it is too much to ask, I guess it’s time to go read someone else. There are thousands of IY writers on the net -I’m sure you’ll find plenty to your liking and I’m also sure that a slew of new ones will crop up once The Final Act is dubbed.

I also read the poll numbers. Aside from three, self-centered _______ (fill in the blank), I see the overwhelming response is that readers think hits count. Well, they do, but words are nice, too. And no, this isn’t about wanting a bunch of people to “kiss my ass” in a comment. If you’re a writer, you understand how fulfilling it is to hear that your audience enjoys the wares. I don’t want to hear, “OMFG! You are, like, THE best author EVA!!!~!” I want to hear what you liked about the chapter, and it doesn’t have to be a 300 word saga. Just a line or two if you liked what you read. But again, if you don’t like the fics, why come to my site at all?

I’m pretty much out of mainstream fandom by choice, and I really just want to write for people who will appreciate it. If that isn’t you, then FFN, MM, Joeblow… is just a URL away.

To those who have e-mailed me asking for updates, when I’ll reopen, and if I’ll post X,Y,Z elsewhere, here are your answers.

1. I’m actually writing now, but no requests. At this point, you probably won’t get them.
2. I don’t know. Maybe tomorrow, maybe never.
3. No. I won’t be posting anything new or old outside of Absolution.

To those who do review regularly, know that I always appreciate it even if I don’t answer personally. After an update, my hands have to recuperate, so it’s usually a matter of simply being unable to respond, not unwilling. And if Absolution remains closed, I will personally register you guys (Yes, I know your names) to the site so you can read the updates (cause yes, they’re still coming).

That’s it for now.
