Yay, A new chappie :). Seeing the update of KOR, made me click on this story right away. I enjoyed every bit of it! And it's worth the wait. Very worth the wait!
I have a feeling that on their vacation, something will happen, (Reading Toga's family's past got me thinking a little.) and since both sibs are sharing a room, I just have this queezy feeling all of a sudden...but maybe I'm wrong though. I guess I'll have to wait and see what will process on the next chap. Gah, the suspense!!!

Haha, I found that story about Izayoi and the women hilarious! Way to go and fight for your man! Woohoo! I loved Toga in this chapter. I loved the whole familyness of everything.

Wow! *takes a second to breathe* I forgot what a rollercoaster ride reading this fic could be. :) Inuyasha and Kagome's relationship is so complicated. I'm torn between compassion and condemnation at every turn, and not because of how their love will affect their parents: it's slowly tearing their friends' lives apart too. That love scene in the last chapter was intense, and that scene between Sango and Kikyou in this one - how could she not have figured it out? But it's too terrible to contemplate... Oh, dear. *blushes* I think I'm becoming a little too involved with the storyline. Bravo, sis! *hugs* I can't wait for more.
Author's Response: Sis! *HUGS* Thanks for popping in! Yes'm, KOR is a rollercoaster, a crazy one, with lots of angst and emotional turmoil. I think that's why I love it. When I started it, I listened to nothing but Amy Lee and it helped me set the tone. That's why the first 10 chapters are so hard. Now, as the situation changes, the angst isn't as bad. You get a break from it and you get to watch love flourish. The skies will get gray again, though, so don't get too comfy yet. :D

Oh my goodness! Toga's brother and sister too?! This complicates things even more than they already are. Am I right to assume that the siblings will learn about their uncle and aunt's relationship and their father's thoughts about it?
And dear Kikyo! Haven't anybody told this sweet girl that the road to hell is paved with good intentions? I can already hear Sango mentioning to Kagome about her cousin's date.

My god you had my jaw dropping at that revelation of Toga's siblings though I'm wondering what kind of twist you are going to throw at us in regards to that, I think I have a hunch on who they may be if their names ever do come up. ^.^
I sitll am in love with your rendition of Kikyo in this story, she may end up being the only friend and ally in the end of all of this. Even though it's probably the least of their worries, I hope that Kagome can get over her un-necessisary jealocy towards the girl.
Yash has really thought this through, and I know he'll do everything in his power to keep things together for Kagome for one more year, yet I have a feeling it'll all come down much sooner then that. I still gotta root for them though.
Keep it up girl, but rest those hands when they need 'em or you might start associating your stories with the pain!

The stuff with Toga's siblings have been on the burner for ages, but I decided to spring it on y'all now that he's feeling more sentimental and upset by InuYasha's imminent departure. He has a method to his madness; he thinks the way he does for a reason and he doesn't realize that it's backfiring on him. (Ain't that always the way?)
Kikyou has been interesting to pen. I'm so used to making her villain that making her the "good guy" is foreign. I like her, though. She's genuine, which is a nice change. But Kagome is still jealous of her to a fault. She sees her as this girl that she'll never be, not realizing that she is everything InuYasha wants. He had no interest in Kikyou at all. (Yay!)
And you're right, m'dear. A year will not pass before shit hits the fan. Hell, shit will hit the fan before he leaves for Cali. Remember, this story is fairly short. I don't intend to ride it out much longer.

Lol! Wow...what a chapter! Its hinting at soooooo much, so already I'm dying to read what'll happen next. I love it...especially now with Toga's siblings and the mystery of their "beytrayal" having been dangled in our faces (you're such a tease! ;P) And then...a vacation to the Jersey Shore? Where they'll be SHARING a room?! Bad Grrrl! Very cruel! Lol...doubly so because this so called "Spring" weather sucks and I'd kill for a beach day like they're getting -__-
But anyway, great chapter. I laughed so hard picturing Izayoi throwing down "NY Style" and getting dragged away by cops. Along with the sibling mystery, I liked the bit on Toga's past too, and the "fatherly" soliliquy about him wanting InuYasha to be sucessful and have all the things he never did. Their emotions are so authentic. It makes the story feel real, which I love.
Sango's character is really on-point, too. I swear, you have the modern version of her down perfectly, like when she nags Kagome to basically stop taking InuYasha's crap? Its so reminiscent of what she does in the anime/manga whenever InuYasha goes off with Kikyou. Very cool.
Hm............but speaking of that witch, she just haaad to say that she and InuYasha kissed. -__- When (or if) that comes out I have a feeling it won't be pretty.
Ah! You're killing me here with the suspense, but the update made my day. I definetely enjoyed more than "some" of it *gives you the face* and will be looking forward to reading what happens next. The ending was so sweet!

I'm stunned. Thank you for such a fantastic review. Hands down, you've made me feel 50 times better about this thing. I was hating on it so bad by the time that I posted that I just wanted to pretend I never wrote it. LOL.
I'm guilty as charged. I did hint at something major with Toga, and it will explain some of what's going on now. HOWEVER, I can't tell you any of it, though I think you have a good guess. :P I feel sorry for Toga, really. He's a good man and a good father, but he has no idea that he's getting ready to get a brick to the head. And thanks for cluing in to the emotions I try to portray. I always hope that they come off like a normal, loving, upper-middle class family, but I also try to keep a little grit since Toga is a "wrong side of the tracks" kind of guy that worked his way up.
Sango is a trip. I never thought I was in keeping with her manga version, but I can see the similarities now that you point them out. I like Sango a lot. I totally identify with her a lot more than I do with Kagome. She's soft, but underneath, she's all fight. She doesn't hold her tongue for InuYasha or Kagome, and kinda like she is in the manga, only Miroku really gets to see her sweet, soft side. So, hooray for the slayer!

YAY! 'eyes nervously dart around and whispers' "You have made me a hentai" I so wanted them to bang while the parents were in the next room over ;p, Cape May is going to be the ride of their life (in every aspect of that phrase! ^_-)
I loved this chappie kiki, I noticed it was sort of a filler for what is to come but you have to know that this is by far one of my most fav. stories besides "Hikari" and your newest, "Treasure on the Tide". I know that those are a lot of faves but I don't pick them lightly and I feel like the writing put into to Knife of Romance is so painfully real. I have an an ominous feeling that this story will end badly, which scares me but i know you must do what you need to so that it completes the idea you were going for.
And what's even better is you updated the day before my b-day!!!! It was like the ficcy was a blessing in diguise. I wuv you kik!
P.S. soak those hands for the carpel tunnel!!! If they are soar or hurting it's not a smart idea to keep running them like a steam boat. Keep in mind that I may not be in person with you but I care and worry for you just the same.

My hands (thanks for caring enough to ask!) are okay, but sore. I've been overdoing it with the sites, the writing, and my RL job. But I've been wearing my wrist splints and taking my motrin, so it's not so bad. I'm going to take it easier, though, because the flare up I had after all those chaps of Treasure really hurt. I didn't even want to look at a keyboard!

My spidey sensings are tingling. Has this forbidden love happened before? I don't know anything for certain, but I am fearful for Inu and Kags. I doubt there is a way for a parent to take this situation well, but if it has happened before, a whole lot of emotions are going to ignite. I'm scared for them, but I will admit that I am looking forward to them being able to spend some time together in Cape May.
Also, what's up with the Yankees new ticket scheme? I'll be lucky to make it to one game, opening day is looking out of the question.

You can't imagine the squeeing that sounded through my house this morning when I saw this story was updated. Seriously...my throat hurts.
And I couldn't read it right away because I had an exam (on a Saturday...yeah), so instead of indulging in forbidden sis/bro action, I was doing net allowance cost analyses for an imaginary construction company. *headdesk* If I end up bombing this exam from being so excited about rushing home to read this chapter, I'm sending you the tuition bill when I have to retake this class in the fall! Don't think I'm serious? Don't be surprised when you receive an invoice for $1440 in August. Yeah.
Okay, now that the threats are out of the way, you've GOT to lay off yourself. This chapter was everything it needed to be! But ooohhh, I don't think I'm misinterpreting when I think you've introduced a possibly devastating similarity between Yash/Kag and Toga's siblings...I'm seriously chewing my nails because of what that could mean. This was really great. You have taken a sensitive topic and filled with believable love and anguish. They know their feelings are not right but they can't fight them anymore.
The trip is going to be interesting to say the least and I can see how it would bring a lot of things out. It'll be interesting to see the fallout if they are discovered and how Inu and Kags will handle everything in the face of it all. Excellent work!

When I first started this story, I didn't think anyone would read it. I like "going there" in my fics, but that doesn't mean people want to go with me, lol. And, at first, some of the reactions were definitely not ideal. However, the majority of my lovelies came with and they've really inspired me to finish this one and have fun with it. After all, it's just fiction, ne? :D So, here we are.
The trip will be a blast, I think. I'm going to squeeze in other plot elements along the way, but you will get plenty of I/K face time and some Sango/Miro just to balance it out. With this chapter, I just needed to establish a couple things. I wanted to do more with it, but that just wasn't working. >.< Glad you could sit through it anyway, lol.

Good chapter. And it was GOOD. It didn't advance things so much as clarify exactly what Yash and Kagome stand to lose if they choose to be together. If nothing else, it proved that things probably will be as bad as they imagine when their true relationship is revealed, particularly with Sango. Plot development makes for a good story, girl. Besides, we know there is plenty of chaos planned for later..... :D

It was one of those "I have to do this" stories that I knew would provoke a "love it or hate it" response. I'm lucky because most have chosen the former, but I would understand if they didn't. I just wanted to let you know that I've read this fic over and over and I forget to review it...oopsies!!! ^_^' I've stumbled on this fiction on ff.net (and I think I reviewed it on there) a while ago and once I came to visit this site of yours, I was happy to notice that there were more chappies on here!!! YAY!!!
I love the part where Inu says this, "I'll be anything you want me to be, need me to be." That part, is my fave! And Chapt 10, Man, when things started to get a little 'steamy'... jingling keys... darn parents had to come home!!! GAH!!!!
But after reading this fic, again, this time I'm leaving my review. :) Can't wait to see what will happen next! Till then...

Title: The Prelude
I'm glad Kagome is wising up and realizing just how much is on the line; InuYasha has clearly given this much more thought than she has, and her "knowing" how she feels only points to her younger age. By the end of this chapter, she seems to realize - at least a little better - what she and Inu are really up against. Still, I can't help but feel she's either still naive or REALLY in love with him. So which is it...a little of both, maybe? Hmm....
And oh, Kikyo...I suspect she will, in fact, get to the bottom of this drama. She seems to be very understanding, though; maybe she'll see his side...or maybe she'll call the police. lol
Author's Response: You're exactly right! InuYasha has had years to contemplate how this could destroy life as he knows it. Kagome, not so much. She means well, but she's 17, and while he's 18, having to deal with something that heavy for so long has given him some serious maturity.

I'm blown away. That was so hot, but the meaning behind it is what is making me reel. I can't believe it! As soon as they found their parents' note, I was like, "Oh, man! It's about to get crazy!" Whew! What a ride! And I have to admit, I thought Mom and Pops were going to come home in the middle of that, but I'm glad they didn't. 'Cuz...man. *wipes brow* It's getting real surrious.
Author's Response: Whoa! This is like Xmas! Thanks so much for all of the great reviews. I'm giddy that you're enjoying KOR. (Another soul successfully corrupted by Da Grrrl! xD) But seriously, this chapter is one of my favorites. It was the first time a sexual scene, in what I consider one of my "major" fics, ever flowed so easily for me. Lemons kick my ASS on a regular basis, but with this, I simply penned what I saw in my head without second guessing every move -and it does help that KOR is one of my all time favorite fictions (I normally hate just about everything I write because I end up taking issue with it after a while. >.>).
The part with the parents had a lot of people on edge because they know I like to screw my characters over at some point, but NAW! :D Saved by the "keys", lol.
