I Haz Package, The Mars Volta, & WTF?!
I finally got my package! Kau rawks. She sent me all of my favorite candies and sweets from Louisiana (There are these chocolate pies they make down there. They’re fucking sick!) and she made me this gigantic almond log that’s so sweet it gave me a headache (salivates), and MJ’s This Is It pkge (2 dics DVD, 2 disc CD set, and commemorative book), The Rolling Stone MJ edition magazine, and a bunch of other stuff. SQUEE! kau is da shiznit! ๐
Now, onto The Mars Volta. Have you guys heard of them? I discovered them before Coheed & Cambria (But only by a few months). I bought their CD, De-Loused in the Comatorium, because I instantly fell in love with the songs, Son Et Lumiere, which immediately goes into Inertiatic ESP-they go together (I used that song in Suicide Rain, too.). They’re somewhat like COCA in the fact that both bands have Hispanic singers with high-pitched voices and the music is very “off the beaten path”.
When I bought my cuzzie an iPod at the Apple store, the clerk commented on my Coheed shirt, telling me that he liked them and Mars Volta and how the fans of both groups tend to not get along. Apparently, there’s a case of “You’re trying to be like us.” on both sides. I had never heard about that myself, but I think there’s room for both. For me, COCA rules all, period. But I like MV, too, and you guys (eyes Am!) should give them a listen! I’m preparing a lil’ sumthin’ sumthin’ for the G-page to make that happen, cause, you know, I gotta share. ๐
I haven’t heard all of their stuff yet. In fact, I’ve only heard 3 songs that I love -the two I mentioned, and an awesome one called “The Widow”, but I’m sure there’s more. I’ll probably do a playlist for them so you can hear their stuff, but be warned. They’re another one of my acquired tastes. ๐
I’m doing some writing -more shutting down of fics- and I’m going to make some decisions on what really, really isn’t going to be completed. I started all of my fics with the hope that they’d all get conclusions, but I think some probably won’t. Ever After found an end because it was special, but I think most forgot it was ever written because it took so long to end. There is another old one that may never see an end, too. I know people are waiting for it, but if it doesn’t come to me soon, I’m going to write it off. In other words, I want to concentrate on my current stuff, particularly the gift fics, so I can have my shit in order. I don’t know when I will stop writing (I did once, but not now), but I know it won’t be InuYasha fics forever. That means, I need to do what I’m going to do while I still have the desire to do it!
And in a WTF?! moment, why did I just hear that an Italian chef was banned from the airwaves (He had a cooking show), for suggesting that his viewers try “Casserole of Cat”. He went on to call the dish “succulent” and say that it was “a lot better than many other animals. Better than chicken, rabbit or pigeon”. Dude… o_O
And last, but not least, I ordered a plushie from Notoes for Kau who is a big Kouga fan as well as a Saints football fan, and this is what I came up with!
He’s even rocking Kau’s name on his jersey (though the number belongs to Reggie Bush). She loved him and that made me happy. ๐
Later taterz!
Q. Hentai?
A. Yes, thank you!
Wednesday, 24 February, 2010 at 7:16
the plush is cute.. she will love it.. glad to see that everything made it in one piece and still good… stupid USPS… get over the cut backs already… you got paid to much as it was… I think one lady I talked to at my post office said she was getting like $15.00 an hour and that was the low end… (o_o);
Yes.. that pic is a little hentai.. but who doesn’t like that now and then… (^_^)
I will have to give the music a listen when I get a chance to tune things out or dance with the little one, when she is feeling better… don’t work to hard…
Wednesday, 24 February, 2010 at 8:12
I’m really afraid for USPS, because one day, you’re just gonna snap xD But I’m glad the package got through…the gifts sound awesome (mmmm…pies!). I love Louisiana sweets. They make good King Cakes for mardis gras!
I’ll deff try the Mars Volta. I know I’ve heard one of their songs before and liked it but I really can’t remember which one…I know the title wasn’t in english, but o.o It escapes me. Thanks for the recc! ๐
And I think what bugs me out more than this guy telling people to try cat is him saying its better tasting than pigeon. WTF, indeed! What kinda crazy person would eat those flying rats! xD It reminds me of this show, In Plain Sight. The main character’s future mom-in-law was cooking dinner, but it was something hispanic that she didn’t recognize…so when the mom walked out the room she whispered to her sister “I think there’s a cat in that pot…but God help me, it smells delicious.” Irregardless of how it would smell, I wouldn’t eat a cat. Or a pigeon. I don’t like either (and cats HATE me. Dunno why, but they tend to attack me for no reason -.-), but…I’ll stick to normal food.
The plushie is adorable! I love his little ‘Who dat” tag! Notoes’ work is amazing, and I’m glad Kau liked it!
Happy Wednesday! ๐
Wednesday, 24 February, 2010 at 9:16
*chuckles* If they knew what was good for them they’d start smartening up. I’m thrilled that you finally got your package!! Squeee! You got the MJ This is it!! I’m eyeing it over here for a gift for my soul brother.
No, actually I haven’t. I’ve only heard of Gackt’s Mars CD. (would love to get my hands on his S.K.I.N music too.) I’ll hunt down a couple of their videos to listen to.
Bet that ‘chef’ has PETA riding his ass hard for his disgusting menu idea. Though I did come from a community (where I was born) that served Muskrat pancakes every Sunday… >..<
Not much of a Kouga fan but he is rather cute! Notoes Rocks with her Plushies!
Oh! Hentai! *cries* I've lost all mine! Gotta hunt it all down again! Stupid computer with stupid motherboard and stupid DVD/CD drive…. stupid Microsoft asshats…
Wednesday, 24 February, 2010 at 9:58
Whew, I’m glad the mail pulled through and damn! Kau sends you all the awesomeness lolz!! I haven’t heard of MV but then again I had never heard of half the stuff I listen to now. So thanks for the recommendations Oh my gosh that Kouga is SOOO cute!! Well continue with the amazingness (yeah, I’m creating words left and right lol) and relax.
P.S. I’m lovin the Hentai pic ๐
Wednesday, 24 February, 2010 at 10:02
Since I take music listen suggestions I will definitely give a listen to some MV. And since I made a playlist out of the music in Suicide Rain, I already have one! lol
It’s good to hear that you got your package.
…and who doesn’t enjoy a little hentai every once in a while. XD
Wednesday, 24 February, 2010 at 17:58
@CA
You made a playlist of the SR music??? FUCKING SWEET! ๐ I think I should do that myself! Squee!
Mars Volta is pretty darned good and I can help you out with that collecting. Expect some e-mail from me shortly!
Hentai and super-sweet almond logs from Louisiana = ::Homer Simpson drool:: xD
Wednesday, 24 February, 2010 at 18:14
@Kimmy
Doesn’t Kau rock? She always sends me cool stuff, and LOTS of sweets. Squee! I’m about to send her a gang of stuff, too, but I have to be careful and not say what it is. She stalks here sometimes and may catch me! And Kouga turned out so well, lol. I love the jersey! Notoes really does great work. She’s doing a “Light” plushie from Death Note that I can’t wait to see.
You should definitely check out Mars Volta, but be prepared. They’re really “different” than mainstream stuff, but really good. I still haven’t heard everything, but what I did hear was fantastic. (Totally love discovering new music).
I’m editing your Seasons Change and I mean, seriously, lol. I looked at it last night and cringed. I’ve improved as a writer since I started that, and while I didn’t want to make any major changes, I am editing the grammar and some of the sentence structure (not by much, though). So by the time I post the last chapter (which will be SOON), the whole story will be cleaned up and proper. I have 3 chapters left to edit. I’ll be doing that tonight, and half of the last chapter has been written as of last night, so I’m making good time. Woot!

@ Nikkie
They do need to smarten up. I spoke to the ones that run the 800 number and that gave me the number to consumer affairs, which is supposed to be over them. I expect nothing from such action. >.> They were very apologetic about it, though, which worked in their favor with me. But still, they have to clean that place up. -.-
Mars Volta sounds nothing like Gackt. (Would you believe I’ve never heard a Gackt song that I like yet?) If you can deal with Coheed, you’ll like them.
That chef is gross and it pissed me off. I’m not a PETA type, but I don’t like animal abuse, especially cats. *Snugs Papoose* And I’m not a Kouga fan, either >.> but she did a great job on him. Me? I prefer Yasha every day of the week and twice on Sunday! My next doll from her will probably Demon Yasha since I don’t have one yet. xD
If you need the hentai folders you’ve sent me in the past, I can re-send. I have all of them in their entirety. ๐

@AM
โI think thereโs a cat in that potโฆbut God help me, it smells delicious.โ
LMFAO! I’m dying over here! Holy shit! LOLOL!
I have a cat and I like cats, so that shit had me all o_O but you’re so right. Pigeon is disgusting, a rat with fucking wings, lmao. But I know some people eat them. I remember watching that show Rome on HBO and the guy was eating sautรฉed mice. Had me grossed out for the rest of the night. But you know, that’s a culture thing. Some cultures eat shit we wouldn’t think about if we were starving to death. Just nasty! *shudders*
King cake. EW EW EW! Let me give you my take on that absolutely nasty danish, lol. She sent me one during the last Mardi Gras. It cost her about $50 and it was just so disgusting. >.< It's filled with colored sugar and frosting and loads of cinnamon. I gagged on the smell alone (never really liked danish) and then I tasted it. Girl, my aunt and them didn't even want it, lol. (and they take everything!) I ended up giving it to a neighbor just so it wouldn't go to waste. Now she threatens to send to me when I act up. xD
Mars Volta is BANGIN'. I think you'll like them because you like Coheed and they're a lot alike. MV seems to be a little harder, though, in terms of guitar at times, but still awesome. The G-page is set up whenever you're ready. ๐ And Coheed's new one?? OMG I love it. I have it on repeat for hours everyday. I'm completely amped for YOTBR.
Kouga came out great, even though I'm not big on him. The "Who Dat" is supposed to be a towel in his back pocket, but getting the logo on made it stiff. Still good stuff, though. Notoes has a real talent.
HAPPY HUMP DAY!
Wednesday, 24 February, 2010 at 19:21
@Neo
She loved the plushie! I want to get one of Yasha with a Giants Jersey. That would be too awesome!
USPS pays that much for the bullshit jobs? Hell, I need to get a job there and get to that high end! They’re definitely cutting back, though. The woman there said everything was crazy because they merged two stations. That’s retarded. The population isn’t getting smaller, they need to accommodate the amount of people we have. Unreal.
Hentai is a necessity of life in one form or another. (There, I said it!)
I hope the family is doing well and you’re not running yourself ragged. It;s been a real nasty winter thus far -lots of illness and icky stuff. >.<
Wednesday, 24 February, 2010 at 21:42
Oh yes! Definitely get yourself a Demon Inu! *giggles*
Apologized is most wonderful… though grovelling would have been a nice addition to the apology…
Oh yes, definitely enjoy CoCa. *bounces* I can believe it. Gackt, I find is another type-that is an acquired-like or don’t like of music. Just like my friend cringes at listening to X-Japan and I am bouncing along. *giggles* It’s what connects to you on the inside that’s what counts.
Yea, fire off those hentai piccies…. *sighs and glares at computer* that hentai one of kagome_inuyashkina was one of the ones I lost…
No one should do something as low as that to a pet.
Thursday, 25 February, 2010 at 1:14
Wow, hearing your stories about the USPS makes me want to hug Canada Post. I’ve never had a problem with them, even at Christmas.
So why the Mars Volta/Coca fan rivalry? Is Mars Volta a Star Trek cover band or something? Cause that’d be funny. Did they also get to ruin a wonderful Iron Maiden song?
And as much as I love cats (as pets, not food), I can’t really get mad over the idea of a cat casserole. I mean, it’s not like he’s encouraging people to cook up their family pet (well, at least I hope not). I don’t really see how eating cat is any different from eating cow, pig, deer, or lamb.
Thursday, 25 February, 2010 at 13:02
LOL! There’s different kinds of King Cakes! Zulu King cake has to be my favorite. It’s topped with chocolate and coconut and filled with pudding (and I don’t even like chocolate all that much but its soooooo good). Praline King Cake, Cream Cheese King Cake, and Cherry King Cake are good, too. I went to New Orleans for Mardis Gras a few years ago and got to try a bunch of different kinds…it was amazing. I think I’m too used to sugar in excess, though. My Grandma puts enough sugar to kill a diabetic in EVERYTHING (coffee, iced tea, cake….baby formula >.>) . I’m surprised none of us have it! Cajun food is really yummy, too. And LOL @ how she threatens to send you more King Cakes for being bad!
I only listened to a few MV songs so far, but WOW! “Concertina” is already my jam. I like the bit of spanish he tossed in it. “Eunuch Provocateur,” too. The ones you recced (“Widow” and “Inertiatic ESP”) I liked also. I don’t see why fans of either think one tries to be like the other, though. They’re really similar to CoCa, but there’s enough differences in style. MV does sound a bit harder. A little darker, too, and the lead seems to do more with his voice. In one song he sang with a really deep, scratchy voice (it hurt my ears o.o lol. It was one of the “Miranda” songs from “Frances the mute”) But I’m liking them so far.
Btw…are Circa and Torche, the bands Coca’s touring with, any good? I heard Circa’s gonna do a free concert around the time of their May one with CoCa, and I have a few friends pretty into them.
Awww..the “Who dat” still looks cool in his pocket. And the Saints colors are workin’ really nicely for Kouga! The work she put into it is amazing.
I’m still O.O over sauteed mice, though. But yeah…I guess every culture has its thing. I know my boyfriend was REALLY freaked out by pernil cuz its pig shoulder (weird thing is…I’ve been eating it all my life, and I only recently found this out), and my oldest brother is scarily cool with swallowing gusano (the tequila worm) xp Eh, but to each their own. Even if a “cat casserole” and pigeon stew really squick me out, lol.
I hope all is well ๐
Thursday, 25 February, 2010 at 20:44
@AM
Girl, those cakes sound da ish!!! I’m so gonna beat her for sending me that nasty shit when there are all these cool flavors! *cries* I was so traumatized by that awful cake.
And food is definitely cultural. I don’t eat pernil (I never knew it was shoulder), too much fat. I’m a poultry person, breast meat to be exact. I’ll mess with bacon and cubed pork (for BBQing), but other wise I’m very finicky. The thought of eating anything that could be considered a pet… ::shudders::
I haven’t heard the bands that are touring with Coca, but one of the shows I went to a while back featured a band called Dredg and they were AMAZING. I’m gonna hook up the G-page so you can hear their shit. So, SO good. I may have to look those guys up and see what they’re about. I’ll pass along what I find. (I love finding new cool shit!)
Aren’t the Mars Volta amazing? I still haven’t heard everything, but I’m totally lovin’ on those guys! And hai, they do sound like COCA, but definitely harder and his voice is wild. His name is Omar Rodriguez, I think, and dude just HAS it. Claudio will always be my fave, tho. Check out the song thatโs on the blog now. You wonโt believe what I went through to get it!
I heard it playing on the end credits of a horror movie called โThe Localsโ. I didnโt even see the film; I caught the very end. But I loved the song and went on a mission to get the soundtrack. Well, itโs out of print and no one is selling it. I end up doing an internet search and find a site that features films made in New Zealand, where that movie was made. From there, Iโm able to get the names and artists of every song on the soundtrack. New mission: Find them individually. I find all of them but 2 because these bands are all local NZ bands that the director favored, so their shit is MIA as well. >.< Some of the band's CDs are also out of print.
Finally I break down and e-mail the guy who runs the site and whines to him to pleeeeease tell me what song that is on the soundtrack. Sweetie that he is, he mails back and tells me the song isn't actually on the soundtrack, but that he'll go to his sources and see what he can find out for me. I'm thinking it will probably be fruitless, but like I said, he's a sweetie. He mails back the same day with the name of the band, the song, and the album title. I had the song 10 minutes later. Now, that was a fucking adventure! LOL. Itโs SO cool when people will help out a stranger just because they like the same things or have something in common. If fandom was more like that weโd have it made, eh?
Happy Thursday!
(Ainโt this weather for shit?!)
Thursday, 25 February, 2010 at 20:51
@Danga
It’s just that post office. I’ve never had issues like this with any other. >.<
What I don't like about Canadian post is A) Shit takes forever B) They make you guys pay for deliveries that are worth more than a certain amount. What kind of shit is that? o.O The recipient shouldn't have to pay for a package.
MV/COCA rivalry, I think, is due to how similar they are in sound. But MV is a little harder, in my opinion. LOL! NO they didn't ruin any Iron Maiden songs! Dang! My boys can't catch a break around here! ๐ And no, they're not a trek cover band. *beats Danga for being funny*
There is something powerfully wrong with eating domesticated animals. It reminds me of that movie “Once Upon a Time in China” when Jet Li and his companions were on a train and they served dog for the meal. The woman, who was westernized, freaked out after she started eating and he told her what it was. That’s absolutely AWFUL.
::shudders in that Sideshow Bob way when he had to rub Patty’s feet::
Thursday, 25 February, 2010 at 20:55
@Nikkie
I wanted to try Gackt cause he was so pretty and femme >.> like Sesshomaru, but I can’t get into him. X-Japan is awesome. Why anyone wouldn’t like them is beyond me, but ok, lol. If you want the rest of my pic collection, let me know and I’ll make a new zip for ya. ๐
Thursday, 25 February, 2010 at 23:34
Whaaaaaaaat?? Dredg opened for them? That’s really cool! They have this one song that I LOVE – “Bug Eyes” and in the video, its sick. They only show a glimpse of it but with one hand, the drummer is banging on the drums and with the other, he’s playing the piano next to him. Check it out, around the 2:50 mark: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQz_WjTn68U (but be careful with Vevo. Sometimes it works. Most times its just…dumb, lol). That’s the only song of theirs I’ve heard, but its great, and I can only imagine them doing something pretty awesome like it on stage (the instrument they show in the beginning of the video..I heard its pretty difficult to play, too but its got a really nice sound). I’d love to hear more from them, so thanks ๐
I got through most of MV’s discography earlier. De-Loused In the Comatorium I think is the best album so far. Usually I just delete the songs that don’t grab me, but I kept almost all of them from that one. I’ve looked them up on wikipedia, too. That guy Omar has done solo albums and been in other bands…one of them called “Sparta” (I know Claudio used to be in “Shabutie” and both do concept albums…like how Claudio has his comics/books to go along with the music…More similarities!) There’s also talk of the lead from this band (they’re undiscovered…and broken up o.O) sounding like Claudio: http://www.myspace.com/victoryatlast He kind of does…but then in some songs, not at all. Worth a check, though. “Down in the Darkness,” the first one on the page is pretty good.
Wow! Foreign AND local definitely sounds like a butt to find. I’ve been there. There’s this guy Julian Peretta from england…the few songs I have from him were really hard to find. He does pop music, but different from pop music here. More like “Mika” if you’ve ever heard him and with a really fun sound. “Ride My Star” and “Wonder Why” are my favorites of the four I have from him. I had the same struggle locally, too. There’s this guy Drew Torres…he does EVERYTHING – rock, rap, dancehall, and he’s pretty good. I went to see him live at BronxUnderground (this is the horrible concert experience I told you about, though…>.> where everyone smelled and my ex left me to die, lol) and he was selling a few songs on cds for a dollar each. I was soo mad, because my last dollar went to water for Mr. “It might be fun to punch a security guard in the face and get kicked out” I still don’t have his music -.- But here he goes: http://www.myspace.com/drewtorres “Bottle” “PRICE” and “Inside and Out” (my favorite) are good.
The song up now sounds worth it, though. Its really good! And that was really sweet of the guy to help you out! Anything else good on the album, because I deff wanna look into this?
Happy Thursday back atchya. The weather IS pretty suck. Its been miserable and gloomy all week and now we get slush to cap it off? Wonderful. I didn’t bother with much today, but I hope you’re staying dry! ๐
And don’t go beating Kau! Lol.
Friday, 26 February, 2010 at 0:47
You mean duty? That charge is only on things that cross the border. I’m pretty sure the US has that too. Though shit does take forever sometimes. That reminds me, I should have checked the mail like 8 hours ago…
This Mars Volta experiment had better not turn out like the disappointment of the Star Wars cover band… You know who you should try? Freedom Call and Elvenking. I promise, they haven’t ruined any other bands’ songs to my knowledge. And if anyone recommends Dragonforce, run away. It’s too dorky even for me.
Once Upon a Time In China… Good times until the sequels. Just because the animals are domesticated here, doesn’t make eating the meat gross or disgusting though. The fact that they aren’t raise here as livestock probably would. The thought of eating my (or someone else’s)(hypothetical) pet cat does disgust me. Some random cat that was raised as livestock- not so much. The fact that some people keep pigs as pets doesn’t stop me from eating bacon.
Friday, 26 February, 2010 at 20:15
@Danga
Sorry, but nope. xD We don’t get charged for receiving packages from overseas, that’s why that sounds so crazy to me. The shipper pays a fee and that’s that. I’ve had stuff sent to me from all over, including Japan, and never had to pay for delivery.
Danga are those real bands?! They better not be Trek bands!
Once Upon a time in China was great, but yeah, the sequels killed everything. I loved Jet Li back then (before he was all known here), but what happened to Chow Yun Fat? The last thing I saw him in was that movie about the emperor who was poisoning his wife who was having the affair with his son (from another woman) and then their son together went up against him. It was a messed up story, and I kinda didn’t like him in it, but at least he was working. Do you like any Shaw Brothers stuff?
And I’m not budging on cats and dogs, lol.. It’s gross, pets or not!
Friday, 26 February, 2010 at 20:39
@Am
Dredge was awesome, but they looked like bums, lol. I remember another band opened with them (I forget their name) but the drummer was this big heavy guy and we were right in front. Didn’t dude, dressed like a duck, no less, throw himself right on top of us in a bad attempt at stage diving? OMG, I screamed so loud and my ex, who’s a big guy (6’3/260) was my only saving grace! That mofo would have completely squashed me.
I HATE DIVING/MOSHING/AND GENERAL ADMISSION SHOWS! lol.
Overall, tho, the show was great! CoCa live is the best thing EVER. And speaking of, I listened to that group. You’re right! He does sound like Claudio, but at an even higher pitch, which is more annoying than awesome for me. >.> The songs was good, though, and they’re doing some reunion show in Dec. I tried to hear Drew, but MySpace sucks ass. The player never works for me. It took me 20 minutes of fiddling just to hear the first band. It started playing Price, and then it stopped and wouldn’t restart!
Vevo is horrible. What the hell has google done to youtube?! It’s a PILL to watch anything on there now! I couldn’t get that to work, either. Grrr. And the lead singer is the one that plays that. He was doing it in concert. They’re real “regular” guys and he reminds me of Jim Morrison from The Doors. They did a show in the city last year some time. I wanted to go, but didn’t, and it sucks cause tickets were $15, if you can believe that!
I’m still not done with Mars Volta, but I liked most of what I heard so far. It’s that kinda music I put on when I write – good shit, but won’t completely distract me, unless it’s that a Spanish one I like. Then I want to dance and writing goes out the window. ๐ Have you ever heard Claudio sing in Spanish? I haven’t. >.> I wonder if he ever does. I heard Shabutie stuff. A good bit of it is on their first CD, but I don’t mess with th graphic novels. I can’t get into those at all.
TGIF, girl! How did you like that snow storm? >.> lol.
Saturday, 27 February, 2010 at 5:30
Okay, I know for a fact that the US charges duty. It’s one of the many foggy things I remember from my Economics classes the first time I went to university. Pretty much every country does. It’s basically the government’s way of getting their sales taxes on goods purchased abroad. But they only charge certain things. Gifts under a certain value (can’t remember, a few hundred dollars) don’t get charged, items that cost less than a certain amount usually don’t get charged. And even if you get an item that would be charged, customs has to open it first to make sure the value of the good isn’t lowballed. I’ve been buying stuff from all over too, since the late 90s, and I’ve paid duty exactly once. On a Gamecube. It’s like when you leave the country, the border control gives you an amount that you’re allowed to spend on goods. If you exceed that amount, you pay duty.
Saturday, 27 February, 2010 at 5:32
And yes, they are real bands. And nope, no Trek at all. They do something called folk metal. Which oddly works. Elvenking does a stunning version of Heaven is a Place on Earth.
Saturday, 27 February, 2010 at 14:39
Yea, I know… but my friend is weird and likes really obscure things. He got me into Kronos Quartet, Philip Glass….. *giggles* Might explain the O.O!!! Porn movie he brought over to watch. (Mostly he likes seeing my reactions/sayings when I freak out when he teases me)
Sure thing! I’d like to get those piccies! *bounces*
Saturday, 27 February, 2010 at 18:21
@Nik
Oh lawd! he brings porn?! <.< Where can I get a friend like that?! LOL.
I'll send all of the art I have on my comp -that should help catch ya up!
Saturday, 27 February, 2010 at 19:02
@Danga
Folk metal? Oh lawd! I’m going to look them up (If I can ind them!) and report back. Gotta say, tho… Folk metal?? lol.
And they remade Belinda Carlisle?! *diez*
Saturday, 27 February, 2010 at 19:22
@Danga
That’s so weird! I’ve never had any of my stuff broken into, nor have I ever paid for anything. Maybe I was just lucky >.> and another thing, what kind of dumb shit is that?! Ripping open people’s mail?! o_O I’d be furious. I don’t travel outside of my country, so I’ve never dealt with border stuff, but it sounds quite the suck. You should be able to buy what you want. That’s so ballsy that any country would try to “get back at you” for avoiding inflated taxes -like cigarettes in NYC. They’re about $10 a pack now, and since people still buy them, they’re trying other ways to control the populace – like banning them from smoking everywhere. Completely trampling their rights, but because smoking is bad for you (I think adults can make their own choices about that), they feel like its okay to fuck with your rights and many morons give it a free pass, not realizing that it will NOT stop there. Bakas.
Dang. Totally off topic. ๐
Sunday, 28 February, 2010 at 5:11
Okay every country does that. And it does make sense. Like when the Canadian dollar was really weak and trading at 55 cents US, Americans would buy a lot of goods from Canada that they could have bought in the US, because it was so much cheaper. That’s tax dollars the US wouldn’t get unless they charged duty. Or in the late 80s when Canada got a new tax called the GST, Canadians would go into the US (the Canadian dollar was in better shape then) to shop there because even though the Canadian dollar was weaker, not having the tax made things cheaper. The government wanted their piece of the pie. Duty is a perfectly normal charge. And even that one time I had to pay it, the Gamecube was still cheaper than if I had to buy it here. It’s not a crazy high charge or anything.
And I agree with you about cigarettes, and I’m not a smoker.
